The basics
What is JustSaying?
An app for everyone who shares a home. It keeps the shared expenses, the chore rota and the recurring bills in one place, so nobody has to be the flat accountant and nobody has to chase anyone in the group chat.
Can I download it?
Not yet. JustSaying launches on the App Store in New Zealand on 15 October 2026. Join the early list and we'll email you the day it's out.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. JustSaying is on iPhone first. Android is next, and the early list is the way to hear about it first.
Which countries?
New Zealand first. The app itself works in twenty currencies, so it's usable anywhere, but launches, pricing and support start in New Zealand and widen from there.
Does everyone in the flat need the app?
Yes, each person joins the household with their own account. That's what lets everyone see their own balance, get their own chore reminders and confirm payments they've received.
Money
Does JustSaying move money?
No. It works out who owes whom and the fewest payments that settle the house, then shows each person's bank details so you can pay however you already do. Once a payment lands, the person who received it confirms it.
How are balances worked out?
Every expense is split equally or with custom amounts. Balances are netted across the whole house before anyone pays, so a flat of four with a month of groceries usually squares up in two or three transfers, not a dozen.
What about rent and power?
Fixed bills like rent can post themselves each cycle, at the household's own 9am, even if nobody opens the app. Variable bills like power wait for whoever pays them to enter the real amount. If the person who pays a bill leaves the flat, the bill pauses instead of charging the wrong person.
Which currencies?
Twenty, including NZD, AUD, GBP, USD, EUR and JPY. The household picks one and every amount, split and notification uses it.
Chores
How does the chore wheel work?
Each chore rotates through the house on its own schedule. You get a reminder when yours is due and a gentle nudge when it's overdue.
What if I'm away?
Set yourself as away and the wheel skips you. For a one-off, put a chore in the cover pool and whoever takes it gets the credit. With the House Pass you can also swap two chores straight with a housemate.
Price and the House Pass
Is it free?
Yes. Shared expenses, custom splits, settle-up, the chore wheel, cover requests, receipts, the latest 60 days of the ledger and one recurring bill are all free, for the whole household, for good.
What does the House Pass add?
Unlimited recurring bills, the full ledger history past 60 days, and two-way chore swaps. It's NZ$12.99 a month or NZ$99.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers.
Does everyone have to pay?
No. One person buys the House Pass and it unlocks for the whole household. Nobody has to buy it twice, and how you split the cost is up to the flat.
How do I cancel?
Through your Apple ID subscriptions, like any App Store subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next renewal. The household keeps the pass until the paid period runs out.
Privacy and your account
Who can see our household?
Only the people invited into it. Money, receipts, chores and member details are private to the household. Your @username is hidden from search unless you turn it on.
Do you sell data or show ads?
No. There are no ads and no third-party analytics or advertising trackers in the app. The privacy policy lists exactly what is stored and why.
Can I lock the app?
Yes. App Lock puts Face ID or your device passcode in front of JustSaying every time it opens.
How do I delete my account?
In the app under Settings, or follow the steps on the delete account page.
